Our replacement sensors are supplied in sealed protective bags that avoid sensor contamination and are marked with sensor serial number and sensor type for easy identification.
Sensor life expectancy depends on the amount of oxygen it is exposed to and is not influenced by whether the instrument is switched on or off. In ambient air, sensors will usually work for 24 to 48 months. In an oxygen deprived environment (i.e. when used regularly during purging) the sensor life will normally increase. However, at the end of their life, sensors will start to drift and give false or erratic readings which can corrupt weld quality.
In order to avoid deterioration of weld quality due to exhausted sensors, change the sensor in your weld gas analyser, purge monitor or oxygen sniffer as soon as you notice drifting or other signs of sensor exhaustion.
